5 Reasons Santa Barbara is the Ultimate Destination Wedding Location

We love Santa Barbara here at Burlap & Bordeaux and we would like to share this amazing location with not only our local couples but also those who are looking for a destination wedding. There are so many reasons that Santa Barbara is the Ultimate Wedding Location and we're about to show you why!

1. It’s a splendid beach destination. If you have always dreamed of getting married on the beach, with the sound of the ocean accompanying your wedding vows and with the most splendid waterscape embracing this special moment of your life, Santa Barbara is a really stunning option for you.

2. It has plenty of other amazing venues! If you’re not keen on having a beach wedding, but you love the cultural melange of Santa Barbara, you should know there are plenty of other wedding venue options as well - including rustic spots that incorporate the local ambiance like a charm.

3. Your guests won’t have to travel too far. Flying to Santa Barbara can be a lot less expensive than flying to some island that, and it can make for a much shorter trip for those guests who can’t spend too much time on a plane.

4. It has a lot of attractions. This means your guests can actually make a weekend out of the entire trip and genuinely enjoy themselves before and after the actual wedding. From a fantastic zoo to just admiring the unique architecture of the area, your guests will have plenty of things to do and see.

5. Your pictures will look amazing. Regardless of whether you decide to do your photo shooting on the beach or just around the amazing buildings in the city, you are guaranteed to get the perfect backdrop for your pictures.

How to Have a Themed Wedding

Choosing a wedding theme for your big day is really important if you want all the decor and the ambiance to look great when put together. At the same time though, a lot of the wedding themes can get cheesy really quick, so those of you who are very keen on making sure that doesn’t happen should know there are plenty of options in this direction.

First thing first, if you’re going for a themed wedding, choose a theme you really like. It can be anything: from Star Wars to butterflies, so don’t limit your creativity! But at the same time don’t make your wedding all about the theme. You’re not throwing a party to honor your passion for Star Wars or to tell the world peonies are great. You’re planning a wedding, and that is supposed to be about you, as a couple. Use your theme to accent that, not to cover it up completely.

Use all of your wedding theme’s motifs in a way that’s subtle and creates a nice atmosphere, not suffocating and just “too much” on all fronts.

Use your wedding theme to tell your story. And make it really, really personal. Going with the example of a Star Wars-themed wedding, instead of just using pictures of the characters to replace your table numbers, why not use a lightsaber in photos or even your bouquet? This is the best way to make sure your wedding is not only unique, but also timeless and very you two!bur

Lavender and Gold Wedding Featured on Santa Barbara Wedding Style

We're excited to share that Santa Barbara Wedding Style has featured our Lavender and Gold Wedding of Genny and Aaron. We loved our ceremony at Trinity Episcopal Church and outdoor reception at Elings Park. We can't wait to share more details and photos with everyone, so be sure to keep on scrolling!

"Today's couple decided on a traditional ceremony held at the Trinity Episcopal Church and then chose to have an outdoor reception at Elings Park. The bride carried a bouquet crafted by their planner, Burlap & Bordeaux, full of delicate creamy, white and shade of lavender flowers with eucalyptus tucked in among the blooms. The bride wore a perfectly simple off-the-shoulder gown and the groom a traditional tux paired with a white bow-tie.

At the reception, the guests found their place settings composed of golden chargers, linen napkins and a sweet wedding favor box tied with a satin ribbon. Bella Vista Designs expertly hung market lights over the reception area which provided superb lighting as the sun set. Sugar Lab Bake Shop provided the tasty treats and a lovely two tier wedding cake which ended the day on a sweet note. All was beautifully photographed by Sara Weir." - Santa Barbara Wedding Style.
